Well, I did say this was coming, be warned! It may make uncomfortable reading, specially for my Mum! However, I do have to reiterate that not all research on this particular subject is my own. I have very scientifically canvassed singles, nurses, doctors and generally anyone who is willing to divulge their knowledge around follicular growth in ones nether regions!
Things have certainly changed in the 25 years I’ve been “Off the market” (because that is literally what it feels like – a cattle market.) Topiary, manscaping, neatening up whatever you’d like to call it is now vitally important. Some say because porn is so readily available, and the stars of these particular shows are hairless, who knew! I’m reliably informed that men with no hair down below shave to make their manhood look larger, again, no actual proof of this.
Apparently, majority of women are fully waxed/shaved/epilated, some may have a landing strip. I have one friend, who shall remain nameless, who does fit-modelling. This is where clothing companies employ humans of all sizes to try on their sample clothes, to check everything is scaled up, in the correct place and looks as it should. She takes her clothes off for money, and has many hilarious tales to tell about squishing into items for Ann Summers, including crotch-less knickers, skimpy bikinis and strappy body suits. And claims that everyone is bald as a coot.
So, do we later-in-life, menopausal, single women embrace this fashion? Hell yes! One wouldn’t want to stand out for the wrong reasons, with over 75 million Tinder users, and around 12 million matches a day, you need to stand out from the crowd for the right reasons, even if it is in your own mind & no one actually sees. So, I’ve invested in shares in Gillette, and I'm thinking my swimming buddies will be happy there are no nasty surprises when I'm wearing a swimming cossie, which is frequently as training is back to full-strength!
I apologise for this posts content, but it is all in the name of research & dating when old! Get over it – I’ve got an empty nest looming, and have a vacancy to fill!
